Indiana Domestic Violence Support

IDVS or Indiana Domestic Violence Support is part of a Design for Good website concept to raise awareness and help domestic violence victims. Many sites focus on educating their audience members but I wanted to set my design apart by aiding people who are experiencing abuse to easily find the help they need. This responsive website was divided into two main functions: taking action and providing information.

The “Get Help” and “Know Your Rights” pages that are meant to help domestic violence victims are organized with bullet points and expandable information. I wanted people who might be in a compromising situation to be able to find the facts they need and quickly leave my website in order to minimize endangering themselves.

With this in mind, the web version also has a pop up to remind users that this website could be dangerous for people if their abuser is checking their internet history and if so there are some helpful hotline options or they could use a computer at their local library instead. There is also an ‘X’ at the top of the site that quickly exits out of IDVS.com and redirects the user to WeatherChannel.com if they feel like they are in danger.
